In short: 17-4PH (1.4542) is a copper-bearing, precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel. After ageing (e.g. H900, H1025) it reaches high strength and hardness while keeping good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for functional 3D printed parts that need strength.
