Inconel® 718 Nickel Superalloy Powder

Inconel® 718 Nickel Superalloy Powder for metal 3D printing (illustrative image)

In short: Inconel® 718 (IN718, UNS N07718) is a niobium-strengthened, precipitation-hardening nickel-chromium-iron superalloy. It keeps high strength up to about 650 °C and is the most widely used superalloy for 3D printing gas turbine, rocket engine and high-temperature fastening parts.

Typical applications

  • Gas turbine and jet engine parts
  • Rocket engine injectors and combustion components
  • Energy and oil & gas equipment
  • High-temperature fasteners

Particle size and compatible processes

The standard cut is 15–53 µm, suitable for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF / SLM / DMLS) machines. Coarser cuts for DED/LMD processes can be requested. Share your machine model and layer thickness and we will confirm the right cut and batch documents together.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Inconel 718 and 625?

718 is precipitation hardening and gives higher strength after heat treatment for structural high-temperature parts. 625 is solid-solution strengthened and stands out for corrosion resistance and weldability in chemical and marine environments.

Does Inconel 718 need heat treatment after printing?

Yes. Stress relief, HIP where required, and solution treatment plus double ageing are typical. The route is defined by the target specification (e.g. AMS 5662/5663 references).

Inconel® 718 powder price: what does it depend on?

The price depends on order quantity (kg), particle size cut, packaging (argon-filled cans or bottles), required documents (certificate of analysis, PSD report) and lead time. For a current price, state the quantity and your machine model in the quote form.

Which documents come with the order?

A certificate of analysis with chemical composition, particle size distribution (D10/D50/D90), flow and density values can be requested for each batch. Additional documents for aerospace, medical or dental projects are confirmed at the quotation stage.
